Hopefully the static GM will actually do something at or before the draft. This is an area and time he has been completely bereft of innovation and change.

Pulled this from IllegalCurve about The Athletic's article about Dubois.
– Cheveldayoff was notified on Tuesday by Pat Brisson that Dubois wouldn’t be signing – Dubois will submit a list of teams he would sign with long-term (5 or 6) – Brisson would begin talking to teams – it would be a sign-and-trade situation (similar to Tkachuk).
That is pretty good news....should allow for the Jets to get a decent return for him.
If PLD isn't traded by the NHL Draft, it's likely the Jets file for arbitration to stop any offer sheets from opposing teams and give them more time to find the best trade.

Chevy losses Laine for this guy who tries only when he wants to and will collect little value for Dubois cause Chevy is the exact opposite of a winning general manager? Wpg Jets the mediocre magnets of the whole nhl 32 teams? Look at the unbeileiveable mess Chevy has allowed to fester.Wpg fans want him out.

Mike McIntyre in today's Free Press once again is asking why so many good players want out of the Jet organization. He does not propose an answer but its pretty clear that a mediocre GM likes having a mediocre team.

It has everything to do with a coach, pomo, and GM, who created a toxic work environment by favoritism and the NHL equivalent of cronyism. Sheif and Wheeler being the direct beneficiary of this. Good luck you @sshats at TN by maintaining a GM who should have been shown the door yesterday.

For a team that preaches community and tolerance and long term relationships they essentially had the worst dressing room in the league for years . And nothing was done about it. Absolute bad management. And making it worse they have refused to admit it was/is an issue. Head in the sand, nothing to see here folks. One of the sports writers the other day , may have been Sean Reynolds, noted that the team needed to clean out the core last off season and because they did not, they are now in a corner with 4 players.

The next few weeks will likely bring the most change and controversy to any Jets team in 1.0 or 2.0 history. Possibly 4 top players may be moved out of the lineup. The pressure on the team's ownership and administration is enormous. Add the draft and Chevy's plate is beyond full, it's spilling off the table. Fans for the most part are tired of watching and hearing from certain players who are more concerned with themselves then with this city and its hockey fans. We shall see where ownership's priorities are. Chipman has always stated he brought the NHL back because of his love for the community. This will test that statement and challenge him to once again prove his intentions and devotion to Winnipeg remain. Scheif, Dubois, and now even Helle have shown their personal ambitions lie elsewhere. I believe Wheeler is loyal to this team and its fans but there's something in his personality that disrupts the dressing room, the rookies, and undermines the coaching staff. Sincerely, Good luck on cleaning them out and finding others with ethics and devotion. Do what's best for the fans and not what a few arrogant players want.

Cheveldayoff has said repeatedly that there will not be a "rebuild" and I suspect that was for both public consumption and an attempt to keep Hellebuyck who apparently has no interest in being out in the wilderness for several more years.

There's 2 or 3 decent centres, not superstars but capable hard nosed players, that are UFAs. Monnahan, Killorn, and Kerfoot would be adequate middle to bottom six. The biggest gamble but with potential huge rewards is Toews if he regains his health. Debrincat would be a good addition even at 9 million after all that's what Scheif or Dubois will want as a minimum. Helle could fetch a couple very good players just make sure they're not only gifted offensively but that they have nasty dispositions too. If there's once again an obvious plan to play in the final look no further than Florida and Vegas. Smurfs won't get you there.

Some reports saying they have interest in Hellebuyck too. LA is one of the more interesting options in the top 16 of the NHL last year. Something like Byfield, Arvidsson or Iaffalo, and draft picks/prospects for Hellebuyck or Dubois might be okay. However, if it was Helly they acquired, the Kings would be left with $6.2M to sign a minimum of 5 fowards and 2 defensemen. (average of $885k per player). If it was Dubois, they might only have $3.5 to 4M in space, needing 4 forwards, 2 d-men, and a goalie since reports are saying PLD wants $9M per year.

They were I believe 17th in the league in GA/GP. They were 10th in the playoffs in GA/GP being bounced in 6 games in the first round.I was under the impression they were very good defensively. That may be the case but the numbers indicate middling. If they had Helle that would help significantly. But since Dubois is the object of the rumors I can see him being certainly a contributor but I struggle to see him being a contributor greater than the value that Helle would apparently bring. But that should be an interesting wrinkle in the trade rumours.
