Since the Thomson family are part owners of both the Canadiens and the Jets may David can expedite the trade for Dubois and make sure it's equitable? There's likely conflict rules that prevent him but we won't tell if he won't...

I think 55 needs to go first, he has quietly quit on the team several times over the last few years and that’s enough, his words rarely match his actions.
Then send 26 to a team that is on his list, suck up 50 percent and smile.
Then offer Dube a contract with the carrot that it’s his team with Joshy and Lowry leading the way.
Then sign Bucky.
Ship out a couple D.
If the Dube doesn’t sign ship them all!

Just my take for aggressive moves. We need to get big and nasty on D to make it work. Can’t believe we lost Kovacevic and Stanley not developed. If I am GM, I trade Scheifele to Detroit to be with his pal Copp and try to get Edvinsson and picks and move Dubois to Montreal for Guhle and picks. If Hellebuyck and Connor are happy then we build back up again. Forwards are a dime a dozen. Niederreiter played as well as any of our top forwards so sign him. But we are dealing with Chevy so…..stand pat! Great points!

The Athletic is reporting that the Montreal Canadiens are willing to trade Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson and a 2023 first round pick which is the Florida Panthers draft pick to the Winnipeg Jets for Pierre-Luc Dubois.

I have no doubt thye would be willing to trade those 3 assets and I have no doubt the Jets would not

The Athletic is reporting that the Montreal Canadiens are willing to trade Christian Dvorak, Josh Anderson and a 2023 first round pick which is the Florida Panthers draft pick to the Winnipeg Jets for Pierre-Luc Dubois. I sure as spit would go for that. I'm not so sure that I would, though I heard apparently Winnipeg turned that offer down previously. Which is a bit interesting if true, because both players have 8 team no-trade clauses and it appears that they either didn't include the Jets or they were willing to waive the NMC to be traded. Could have something to do with the terrible luck Anderson & Dvorak have had with their NHL teams so far ( Columbus/Montreal and Arizona/Montreal respectively). But if Winnipeg did make that trade, they are taking on $9.95M in salary ( with Anderson for 4 more years & Dvorak for 2 years on their contracts) for two forwards who projected in the 38 to 35 pt range for a full NHL season. Neither forward could be considered small, but they have had a very hard time playing full or near full seasons ( Anderson has played 69 games in each of the last 2 yrs, while Dvorak has dressed for 64 & 56 games). And while it's a deep draft, the very late 1st round pick probably won't result in a great prospect. It wouldn't be the worst trade Chevy could make, as it might help transition to becoming a team that gets offense from all 4 lines ( like the Kraken). Would like the Habs to add Justin Barron (RHD) to that offer. Or would rather they see if the Capitals would be willing to give up the 8th overall pick for Dubois since Kuznetsov wants out and the Caps will want to keep Ovi surrounded by talent.

For my edification, when you guys say; SO and So has a no trade clause or 8 teams are on his no trade clause. Is that common knowledge or is it plucked from a NHL player list with all their data on it?

Is that common knowledge or is it plucked from a NHL player list with all their data on it? I typically use CapFriendly for any looks at salary cap issues. It also includes whether they have no trade or no movement clauses, as well as other handy things like how much it would cost an organization to buy out a particular player. Here's a link to the Jets home page on CapFriendly if you want to check it out. www.capfriendly.com/teams/jetsNote that under the TERMS section, you will see M-NTC (modified no trade clauses) or NMC (no movement clause). If you click on the particular player, you can see details above the M-NTC and other info, including how much it would cost to buy the player out or what trades the player has been involved in.

Habs signed Cole Caufiled to a 8 year $62M deal , probably puts them out of the PLD running. They now have large contracts for Caulfield and Suzuki

Habs signed Cole Caufiled to a 8 year $62M deal , probably puts them out of the PLD running. They now have large contracts for Caulfield and Suzuki Possibly, but they have plenty of room to afford Dubois if they want him. CapFriendly has the Habs with just over $725k under the cap, with 12 forwards, 9 defensemen, and 3 goalies counting against the cap. But with Price's $10.5M salary on LTIR, they still have over $11M to play with and can save a minimum of $1.5M more by sending the 2 extra defensemen to the AHL (that's up to $12.5M). And they could still dump some contracts via trade like Armia's or Edmundson's $3.4-3.5M. **also, the Jets will be taking some contracts from Montreal, like Dvorak's $4.45M or Dach's $3.37M salaries, so that saves around half of what Dubois' new contract will be.**
