The playoff run against Edmonton showed me significant potential in Stanley. He can hit, skate, pass. So what are some of the issues: confidence, injury issues and consistency. I'm still high on him as an important and always potentially intimidating force on D. Coach has to stick with him assuming health doesn't impede his effectiveness. Also I would love to see him get opportunity on the power play, he has a good hard shot and can actually hit the net. I am hoping Vilardi plays RW on first or second line, he had tons of success there last season, has a great shot could score 35 or 40 goals

· Pierre LeBrun, Michael Russo and Eric Duhatschek report in The Athletic that Connor Hellebuyck's next contract will not be with the Winnipeg Jets. "There should be no confusion about whether Hellebucyk has interest in signing an extension in Winnipeg. That ship has sailed. His next contract will be with a new team." Hellebuyck has one year left on his current contract and will be an unrestricted free agent after the 2023-24 season. #winnipegjets #Nhljets #wpgjets #nhlnews #nhl #nhltraderumors

good then its in his best interests to play great this season for the jets Hopefully they don’t over play him during the regular season, when the Jets do that, Helly seems to drop a notch or 2 during the playoffs. We have Brossoit as his backup, Brossoit needs to play 27 games as Helly’s backup, this will keep Helly fresh for the season including the playoffs.

I would hope he can be a 1st or second line Center. More likely RW for now but the 'hope' is at center.

Vilardi should play RW and score tons of goals the problem is I think he wants to play center which I think is a mistake
RW is where he can do most damage and PP

I am happy letting the coaches decide where his best position is. But we need a few of the young guys to take the C spot - they can't all be wingers.
After this year we will have lost PLD and Softlie at 1-2 Center and Lowry is close to being a 4th line checker now. So we essentially need 3 centers

Lowry is close to being a 4th line checker now. According to this article by The Athletic, Lowry is the 10th best shut down center in the entire NHL. I think he is a fine 3C, just a defensive one and not an offensive one. From looking around the league, the majority of 3rd liners end up in the 30's for points and Lowry is in that range. He also had the 14th most forechecking pressures (per 60 mins) in the NHL last season. theathletic.com/4377944/2023/04/04/nhl-shutdown-centers/I think Lowry could flirt with 45-50 pts this season if he plays with talent like Iafallo & Niederreiter. As for future centers, both Lambert & Lucius could challenge for a top 6 NHL center spot in 2024-25 with a strong year in the AHL. In the bottom 6, will be interesting if players like Zhilkin, Nikkanen, & Wagner can challenge Kupari for a 4th line role after another/1st AHL season.

I saw another article last week that noted Lowry's stats are dropping. I think within a say 2 year window he is a 4C (and a good one). Would we be better off with Perfetti between Iafallo and Niederreiter?

Would we be better off with Perfetti between Iafallo and Niederreiter? It does sound like a good line, but if that was the 3rd line, how does the top 6 get filled out? Obvious four players in Connor, Scheifele, Ehlers, & Vilardi. I think Namestnikov could fill in there, but it's not ideal. The final spot is even less appealing, with options like Lowry, Appleton, Kupari, Barron, Jonsson-Fjallby, & Gustafsson.

I can't think of a more trivial, non-descript and entirely predictable comment by this GM.
