I dont think Chevy's statement or thought was made without discussion with coaches. I can't see Bones being forced to do anything he does not believe in at this point in his career.

Good point, I still got a kick out of lenny's comment though. Seems like you never hear Chevy say anything that's not shrouded in a veil of secrecy and then the pops that tidbit, and on a global platform to boot.
Ok though, I agree Perfetti, a little older, hopefully stronger, should be ready for this challenge and I think he's definitely capable of being a legitimate #2 center now, or soon.

Prediction From The Hockey News today: Here we go:
1. Winnipeg Jets trade star center Mark Scheifele to the Seattle Kraken for center Alex Wennberg and a first-round pick.
This deal, which we anticipate takes place well in advance of the trade deadline, would be Kraken GM Ron Francis upping the ante for his group. Heād be bringing in a terrific player in 30-year-old Scheifele, and heād give up Wennberg as the big piece coming back. But for Winnipeg, it's more about clearing the cap slate once this season comes to a close.
The Jets would bid farewell to a veteran who wasnāt likely going to be returning and get back a 28-year-old whose contract also comes off the books at season's end, as well as what would likely be a mid-first-round draft pick next summer.
As a result of this transaction, Winnipeg could be a major player in trade talks next summer, and Scheifele could give the Kraken a huge boost as a legitimate Pacific Division threat. This swap would give both the Jets and Kraken a push ahead, even if they're in different stages of their competitive cycle. Cheveldayoff has to deal Scheifele if he's not signed by or before the trade deadline, as letting him walk for nothing would be a colossal mistake.
Here, the Kraken get a top center, and Winnipeg gets a first-rounder to help its future endeavors. Itās a win-win for each side, and thatās the way NHL trades get made.

Wennberg doesn't seem to be a top 6 center and without a contract beyond this season, what value does he bring the Jets? Basically a late rounder and a body to fill a center spot (over maybe Lambert/Lucius if the deal is done at the trade deadline & WPG is out of contention). If they are in contention, Chevy probably keeps Scheifele over a late to mid-round 1st & Wennberg.

I have no problem with the Kraker deal. Basically clearing out some cap space. I'd even take some draft picks. Either way the preference is to now dump him and clear out the dressing room of the last of the troubles. This again illustrates our GM refusing to move him the previous two seasons and how his value diminished markedly.

I would ask for Shane Wright straight up. Or is that a stretch?

This again illustrates our GM refusing to move him the previous two seasons and how his value diminished markedly. No one will mistake Wennberg for Wayne Gretzky, but he is a solid if not spectacular player. His +/- rating was actually better that Scheifele and he looks to be a 40-50 points per season forward with good size and work ethic. This is a salary dump to get rid of someone who openly does not want to be here and whose value will decrease every month as well as souring the dressing room while the inevitable comes. Yes, it should have happened two years ago along with moving Wheeler, but hindsight is always perfect.

While I would love to see the whole Scheifele thing done with, I'm just not so sure that the Jets need to settle for that little.
Basically, Wennberg is a slight improvement on Lowry. Maybe equal to Andrew Copp. Someone who should be in the bottom 6 on a good team, but might slip into the 2nd line on a team with less top-end talent.
Speaking of Copp, he was traded for Barron, a 1st (Lambert), a 2nd (Salomonsson, & a 5th (Milic) at the deadline. Do we really think Scheifele has less value than Copp?
55 is coming off one of his lower offensive outputs last season, but in a contract year, I expect that to return closer to a point per game. The guy will want to get paid next season and likely knows he has to produce if he wants a big final contract.
I still think the trade deadline is when Winnipeg can get the most for Scheifele, assuming Chevy is willing to accept draft picks and very young prospects in return at that point.
