Good for him. He changed the culture and made the team play a better style of hockey. But for his own sake it's time to move on. Thanks Bones !

Congrats on a long successful career Bones. Too bad Chevy and they guys couldn't get you anywhere near the Cup but at least you managed to make some impact on the deeply embedded culture.

I actually correctly predicted something! Not surprised at all that Bones has retired. Wife big scare, he had a "minor" procedure which kept him out longer than anticipated. He's not getting any younger and there's a huge amount of stress with the job. Go chase some grandchildren around sir and enjoy your well-deserved retirement! Thank you for making our team better.

So, whom becomes the next Jets Head Coach?
Is it Scotty A.?
Or do the Jets actually do a search before they anoint Scott ?

As for Special Teams, we need a designated Power Play Coach whom has had success Coaching on the Power Play, no more de-facto Coaches, we need a Power Play Specialist Coach, that goes the same for the Penalty Kill, no more de-facto Coaches, itβs gotta be a designated Penalty Kill Coach whom is a specialist on Penalty Killing, one whom has shown consistent success at doing so in the NHL.
Hereβs hopingπ€π.

Kudos to Rick Bowness on a solid and long coaching career. He deserves the rest and certainly doesn't need the stress of trying to fix the Winnipeg Jets draining his health. If interested, here is the link to my article about Bones' retirement decision: www.arcticicehockey.com/bones-calls-it-a-career/

If interested, here is the link to my article about Bones' retirement decision: www.arcticicehockey.com/bones-calls-it-a-career/From the article linked above, here is the part about Bowness' impact on the Jets in his two seasons. "Prior to Rick Bowness coming aboard last season, the Winnipeg Jets scored 252 goals while allowing 257 goals against under a combination of Paul Maurice & Dave Lowry. In his first season in charge, Bones reduced the goals against by 32 but also saw the offensive output fall short by 10. This year, the Jets won the William Jennings Trophy for least goals allowed (199), a reduction of 26 goals from Bownessβ first season and a whopping 58 under what the Maurice-Lowry combo led team allowed. While Bonesβ system will never result in huge amounts of offense, Winnipeg did produce more offense (2 goals) in his final year when compared to the season before he joined the franchise."

I cannot see any stampede of highly qualified applicants for the job, but it seems that no matter how bad the situation, someone with unmet ego needs and a half-decent resume will step forward. I do not envy the "successful" applicant.

Martin Biron mentions Todd Macllenan as a potential/possibly Head Coach of the Winnipeg Jets, obviously as we all know, Scott A. is also in the mix to be the Jets Head Coach.
Please forgive myself for probably misspelling Toddβs last nameπ.
BTW to all of you here, whom would you pick:
Todd or Scott?
Let us all know fellow Jets Fans.
And I know that some of you may pick other Coaches, keep in mind, letβs not choose Coaches that in reality will not become the next Jets Coach, gotta be realistic here.
Cheers,

Bowness did alot to calm the room! However Jets out in five,. Moose hockey system not working either? Alot has to change in Wpg. Some of the Playoff teams exceedingly more exciting to watch.
