Looking at that chart he makes a lot of combinations better. Not just Scheifele and Vilardi. Hohl is convinced that Ehlers can make any line better. He's a respected analytics guy for what it's worth. Oh yeah, I know Garrett Hohl's been doing this a long time and he knows his stuff.Β By the analytics, I agree Ehlers even makes a line of slugs look better, but the most telling to me were any combo of Connor - Sheifele - XXX . All combos with them were at the bottom of the chart...until you put Ehlers with them and suddenly they're near the top.
Strangely though, Scheif is supposedly a total hockey geek...you'd think he'd be just about begging to have Ehlers on his line but it seems that's not the case. I don't know that for sure, maybe he has been and coach has been stonewalling it but that rumour always seemed to be like Peaky said, that Scheif did not feel chemistry with him, his style of play I suppose.
Itβll be interesting to see how Arniel deploys Ehlers, minutes/line. Cheers, 2b9πππ

Wow ,Is Chevy spending all the CAP money on AHL players? Seems he has no clue what he is doing or does he! Chibricov and Lambert will be a pleasant combo of speed and grit no Doubt. But my lingering question is how do you fix our defensive Woes with the tiny defense squad you are intending to Ice? Perhaps Heinola will be another Makar? Chevy do you need lessons from MCrimmond. Hoping for something soon.

So, Chevy got some work done by signing RFAs David Gustafsson ($835K @ 2 yrs) and Logan Stanley ($1.25M @ 2 yrs).
They also have reportedly traded with Carolina for RD 6'2" Dylan Coghlan, but the transaction has yet to appear on CapFriendly or PuckPedia. Supposed to be a late round conditional pick going the other way (finally up and it cost the Jets nothing - future considerations).
So with the following players on the NHL roster:
Connor/Scheifele/Vilardi Ehlers/??/?? Niederreiter/Lowry/Appleton Barron/Namestnikov/Iafallo Gustafsson/Kupari
Morrissey/DeMelo Samberg/Pionk ??/Miller Stanley
Hellebuyck Kahkonen
Total Salary Spent: $74,357,024 Dead Cap (Buyouts): $5,466,667 ------------------------------------------------------- Total Salary Spent: $79,823,691 2024-25 Cap: $88,000,000 ------------------------------------------- Available Space: $8,176,309
Still have three possible NHL RFAs to sign (D - Heinola, F - Perfetti, & D - Coghlan), though only Fetti will likely cost over $2M.
Also, three positions left to fill in the lineup, but they don't match up with the RFAs (2 forwards and 1 defender).

Does anyone have any insight on Coghlan?

Does anyone have any insight on Coghlan? He has been around, check out his bio. He played 59 games for the Knights one season/his second season with Las Vegas. He was then acquired by the Canes. Canβt figure out why he was languishing in the Canes organization, he seemed to have potential when he was with the Knights. Cheers, 2b9πππ

Does anyone have any insight on Coghlan? Not really, other than I like his size and the fact that he put up 41 pts in 61 AHL games last season shows some offensive promise.

Yes, it would have been an overpay, but that's what it is going to take to get a guy like him here, Waive Appleton, the team is already better...... AND......I'm calling the Jets for Season Tickets all of a sudden

According to the quote I took from an article about Reinhart's new contract, that dollar amount might result in him making slightly more money in Winnipeg than the $8M would net Stamkos in Nashville...like $250k, maybe not enough to get him to agree to sign here?
"Averaging out Reinhart's salary to $8.625 million annually, he owes $3.15 million in taxes in Florida. He would pay $1.1 million more in California, $1.5 million more in New York and $1.4 million more in Toronto"

The Jets are simply treading water. No infusion of anything noteworthy. They haven't replaced the losses. Re-up Gus and Stanley? Who else really wants them? The Jets rode Stanley too long. Now the world knows he's 6'7" and really not special. He's a 1st rounder that Chevy is stubborn on. If you can't get a major return for Ehlers, you better lock him up. And let him play. In my opinion, you should be close to just tanking this thing with youth and picks. Like, are you a contender? For real?

Yep that scouting report on Stanley must of been really something back in the day? Has he even acheived 10 points in all his playing time with the jets Sheesh? Can't fight with the Bambi legs Same team with no defense upgrades Holes on the front end much like the canadian military?
