Is there any good Donair shops in Winnipeg? There are literally hundreds in Alberta. I fell in love with Donairs when I first ate one back in 2005. Right now, if I had to go into business, I would open up a Donair place in Winnipeg. It would be like having a licence to print money. Try Shawarma Time on Ellice at Maryland or Baraka on Main St. Both very good.

Ate at Johnny's on MArion yesterday. Great burger.
Also tried Original Joe's for the first time. Apparently they are opening two new locations. Loads of food and the burger was tremendous.

I worked on weekends part time at Original Joe's as a cook in Calgary about five years ago. I am stunned at the growth of the restaurant chain since the mid 90's. When I worked in Calgary, there was 3-4 Original Joe's in Calgary, one that just opened in Red Deer, and one in Edmonton. Now there are nearly 50 locations in Western Canada. It has the potential to run the Pony Corral out of business (a good thing), and become an alternative to Moxies/Applebees/Earls.

2 things.
1) Thanks for the pics of a donair shop. Yes those are awesome!!! Ate lunch at one in Paris and it was awesome. 2) Agree with the 5 guys comment. Had no idea what is was when I was in Brandon this summer for baseball provincials. I was full for 3 days after eating there. Loved all the topping to choose from for the burgers and the fries were f'n amazing. One of my teammates said they heard one 5 guys) was supposed to pop up on Corydon but I haven't seen or heard anything.

There is a 5 Guys in Brandon, but not one in Winnipeg? That's surprising. 5 Guys rocks!

In & Out cant be more than X amount of miles from their supplier due to their freshness guarantee. If I recall, they opened a new supplier in Texas which has allowed them to expand there.
I had In & Out on my to-do list when last in Vegas but just didnt have time. Hear it's great.

- D-Jays in St. James - the best pizza! (you have good taste, labatt50) - Baked Expectations on Obsorne (great for burgers, club sandwiches, and excellent desserts - we usually split a meal so we can split a dessert. Very generous portions) - Pappa's in Charleswood (near Moray bridge) - superb greek food made from scratch (so it is delicious but takes time to prepare) - The Keg on Portage at Moray - good steaks and excellent seared tuna when it's on the menu
I used to love the Wagon Wheel for clubs and milkshakes, but haven't been in there for years.

There's a 5 guys in New York by where I live (I live a few miles from Rockland County, New York State) and I only went there once but from what I remember it was mad good. I didn't know they had it all over the country, and internationally.
