I like the idea of letting him stew somewhere else for a long time. But that's just me.

As much as it might be satisfying it does the team no good to let him rot for no reason. Whatever serves the Jets interests best is what I would go for. I'm not interested in spiting Trouba at the expense of the team. If a quality offer for genuine talent comes in that helps the Jets then take it whenever it comes. But don't pull the trigger on something that doesn't do us any good.

I put wait as long as it takes to get the absolute best offer, even if it takes two seasons or so!!
Of course doing that doesn't make the Jets look good, but it may lead to his agent having one less client

He has to sign before Dec. 1 or he's toast for the remainder of the year: "If the player does not sign before December 1, he is ineligible to play in the NHL for the remainder of the season." en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Restricted_free_agentShould add that to the mix.

I've been consistent in saying that he should sit. Either he signs or he doesn't play in the NHL until he's a UFA.
The rationale is that it sends a message to any future agents and players who want to play this card.
Agent to client: "Kid, you don't want to play the hold out game with the Jets. Remember that Trouba fellow? He tried it and ended up in the KHL until he was 27 and never really caught on with another NHL team."

He's an asset and needs to be cashed in on. He needs to be traded to help the team, but if that involves sitting until Chevy finds the right deal, then fine. But you can't waste an NHL talent. I'm all for doing what's best for the Winnipeg Jets too, so I vote to let him sit for at least a year.
I think Trouba's value on the trade market won't go down even if he sits for the whole season. It's a development year for the Jets anyways so let's spend this year getting a good look at a couple of other young d-men...we may find that not having Trouba isn't actually hurting us much at all; we may even make the playoffs without him (my prediction).
If we find we can thrive without him (and we will), that opens up the potential trade market next year. Instead of pigeonholing for the best young LHD, we can make a move for the best player period, forward or D... a player like Hall for example might have been a consideration under that scenario. He may say he doesn't care but if in the process Trouba misses out on 5 or 6 Million he would have gotten this year, let that be a lesson. Jets need to nip this nonsense in the bud and not reward RFAs who also might be considering trying this stunt. JMHO.

That mentality depreciates his trade value, as the team that ends up with him loses a yr of his RFA status, meaning he becomes a UFA quicker. Teams pay big bucks to buy UFA yrs, so to lose Trouba's services this yr would diminish the return. Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice

Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice I think that is EXACTLY what we should do with him. If anyone is wasting an NHL asset, it's Jacob Trouba. The Jets didn't ask him to do this. He did it. He can sit until the Jets get the best possible deal.

Just on Sportsnet.Report that Avs, Bruins,Yotes,Rangers most interested in Trouba
McKenzie stated the following about these teams though (and any team for that matter) :"Maybe the parameters change at some point, but this would suggest to me maybe this is going to be a long, drawn-out affair." Please let it be.

Let him sit.
We have enough D in our system I think we will be fine without Trouba.
However, if we are having difficulty right out the gate then that may force Chevy's hand to do something quickly.

We can't just let the our draft and develop players dictate, especially after they just completed their entry contracts, trade demands. If the Jets are to just go and make a deal it would set a terrible precedent. No, this is our hill to die on. Make a strong statement, let him sit as long as it takes to get THE best possible deal.

And no Grumpz, we don't burn anything. He is Jets property until he is 27. The Jets are playing by the CBA, Trouba and his agent are not.

What I said was Trouba today with one more yr of RFA status is worth more now, than Trouba next yr, with one less RFA yr. Posted w/ Grumpz D-vice

I thought the RFA was 7 years or 27 (for a player who will be a Group 3 UFA, like Trouba will be)?
If that's true then if he came in at 19 he would be a UFA at 26, but if he doesn't play this year then 7 years takes him to 27, so I'm thinking like Lions, the number of RFA years will be the same for the team. But he's hurting himself even more because he's losing one UFA year...so he should have fired his agent already!
